Situation, challenge and action spread现状—阻碍—建议

A specific challenge in work, study or communication

This three-card Situation, Challenge and Action spread is designed for a specific sticking point: a project that will not move, a conversation that keeps going wrong, a study plan that keeps slipping. It shifts attention away from “who is right” toward “what is happening now, what is holding it in place, and what I can actually do next.” It works best when you have a clear topic and are willing to act on what you see.

It cannot answer questions that demand a guarantee, such as “will this definitely work out” or “will they come back.” It is also not a substitute for medical, legal, financial or gambling advice. If your question contains several topics, consider splitting it into smaller questions and reading each one separately.

The three cards relate dynamically: the Situation sets the context, the Challenge names the tension, and the Action points to a small step you can own. Treat this as structured reflection rather than a verdict about your future.

Beginner spreads use the 22 major arcana by default; you can switch to all 78 cards.

How to read this spread

  • Start with the Situation card as context, not a conclusion.
  • Move to the Challenge card and notice the tension with the Situation: is it an external condition or your own habitual reaction?
  • Read the Action card last and turn it into one small step you can finish today or this week.
  • Read the three cards as a chain: the Challenge often explains why the Situation is stuck, and the Action responds to that Challenge.
  • If the Action card feels uncomfortable, write down your resistance before deciding whether to move.

Questions this spread suits

Common questions

Can I ask “will they contact me” with this spread?

It is better reframed as “my situation, challenge and possible action in this relationship,” keeping the focus on what you can influence.

Do the three cards have to be read together?

You can read them separately, but reading them as a chain is more useful: the Challenge often explains the Situation, and the Action answers the Challenge.

Do I have to do what the Action card says?

No. It is a direction, not an instruction. Adjust it to your pace and circumstances, or observe for a week first.
